Job Title: Pace Car Driver, Bowman Gray Stadium

SUMMARY:
The Pace Car driver is in charge of leading the field to green in the pace car and must have previous knowledge of race procedures as well as give any updates on maintenance that may need to be done on the pace car.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Primary responsibilities:
- Understanding of race procedure and rules to effectively lead the field to green during the start of racing and during cautions.
- Ensure that the pace car receives appropriate maintenance and is clean every night after racing.
- Work with race control to effectively lead the field back to green.
Approximate travel 0%.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience as a professional race car driver or pace car driver preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Valid Driver License
OTHER SKILLS
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience as a professional race car driver or pace car driver preferred.
- Excellent driving skills with the ability to maintain control of the vehicle at high speeds.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse audiences in a dynamic environment.
- Professional demeanor and appearance, with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for providing exceptional service.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the race schedule and event calendar.
- Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities according to the race schedule and event calendar.
