Job Description

Travel team member responsible for preparation and quality control of interior mechanical components of race cars for race events and tests.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing finished interior components of the race car according to established procedures for each event
  • Installing seats, dash, wiring, gear and brake cooling, and other interior items of the car
  • Manage and keep track of SFI certified components
  • Making the necessary adjustments to assigned components to meet design specifications and achieve desired results.
  • Preparing a complete supply of finished parts as spares for race events.
  • Ensuring assigned components of the race car are safely joined, bolted or otherwise secured.
  • Maintaining accurate records for assigned adjustable race car components.
  • Openly communicating with engineering and manufacturing to ensure all cars meet specified deadlines for preparation and loading onto the transporters, as well as to develop and continuously improve functional and quality components.
  • Safely operating equipment according to recommended safety specifications, including use of all protective equipment necessary (protective eyewear, earplugs, etc) while identifying any safety hazards and reporting all risks immediately to a supervisor.
  • Keeping work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Provide assistance to other team members on other duties as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
  • 2-3 years of experience as mechanic on race cars, preferably in the NASCAR series.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical components and structural framework of race cars.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of set-up specifications for race cars and identify appropriate safety mechanisms for each component.
  • Must be proficient in using precision measuring devices.
  • Manual dexterity and good eyesight are required for operation of equipment and quality control of components.
  • Must be able to concentrate on detailed work for long periods and be able to stand, bend, stoop and work in awkward positions.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting is an essential component of this position.
  • Work environment contains hazardous chemicals and fumes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and an ability to use safety equipment correctly.
  • Ability to stand for long period of time, work in tight spaces, kneel, crawl, while working on race car
