Summary:
RSS Racing is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Interior Mechanic to join our race team. This role is critical to the performance and reliability of our cars, with a primary focus on all interior components related to driver safety and comfort. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and takes pride in precision, accountability, and teamwork.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, service, and repair of seats, seat belts, mirrors, wiring, pedals, fire suppression systems, cooling systems, quarter windows, safety nets, and related components
- Ensure all parts meet team specifications and NASCAR regulations
- Install all wraps and decals
- Perform routine maintenance and assembly tasks to meet critical deadlines
- Execute quick and efficient repairs during practice, qualifying, and race conditions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both the shop and hauler
- Work closely with the crew chief, engineers, and team members to optimize car performance
- Travel with the team to all NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races and test events; support weekend operations
- At track: assume the role of underneath mechanic
- Provide own tools; toolbox will be provided
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. passport
Education and Work Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Typically requires 3–5 years of experience in NASCAR, ARCA, Late Model, or other professional motorsports (preferred)
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven knowledge of NASCAR safety guidelines and electrical systems
- Ability to plan and follow through on the assembly and maintenance of race cars
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Fabrication and welding experience is a plus
- Strong oral communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accountability
- Ability to perform under pressure and adapt quickly during race situations
- Comfortable working long hours, including nights and weekends, in a demanding team environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 85 pounds
- Repeated bending, squatting, and use of manual dexterity
- Ability to climb in and out of race cars
- Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations while managing tight deadlines
- Work environment includes exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, heat, and potentially dangerous tools and equipment
