Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Race Interior Mechanic. The candidate should be able to multi-task, and meet tight deadlines within a team oriented environment. The ideal candidate should have the ability to install, repair, adjust and disassemble all interior related systems and components, including but not limited to seat and steering wheel modifications, air conditioning modifications, and electrical wiring of related interior systems. The successful individual must be able to communicate well and work closely with shop and track peers, as well as the impacted Driver. The position requires strong attention to detail, as well as strong knowledge of interior race car components and related systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Responsible for inspecting and maintaining driver compartment and race car interior as it related to electrical components and driver personal safety equipment
  • Maintains the driver apparel and necessary driver safety equipment
  • Ensures the hauler is fully stocked with interior component replacement parts and necessary equipment.
  • Participates in the final safety inspection of the car prior to departure for the track
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area.

  • Safety awareness – ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Analytical skills – ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
  • Oral communication – ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Coordination – adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
  • Repairing – repairing items using needed tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting – determining the causes of operating errors and deciding the action to take.
  • Adaptability – ability to adapt to change in the workplace.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum three years experience in a related position
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude, thorough knowledge of interior components and car systems is required
  • Prior race experience preferred
  • Must be familiar with NASCAR Technical inspection process and race track procedures
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact well with others
  • Must be able to travel extensively and on short notice as needed
  • Must be a team player, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity
  • Must possess personal tools and equipment
