Position Overview

Primarily responsible for working in a team environment to optimize the aerodynamic and mechanical setup parameters of a NASCAR Cup Series racecar using a variety of proprietary engineering tools including full vehicle and driver-in-the-loop simulation models

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize engineering principles to optimize vehicle design and performance.

• Create vehicle models for simulation using proprietary tools.

• Organize, analyze, and interpret test data and simulation results.

• Correlate simulation data with track data.

• Develop and study trends of key performance indicators and use as an aid to vehicle setup evolution.

• Make conclusions and offer recommendations based on data and empirical knowledge.

• Create and support test plans for Driver in Loop (DIL) simulation sessions.

• Create and support test plans for track tests.

• Instrument vehicles and calibrate sensors for track testing.

• Assist mechanics with vehicle setup.

• Support all on track activity either remotely or with travel as determined by team manager.

• Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree or higher.

• 3+ years of motorsports experience in NASCAR’s top three divisions.

• 2+ years of experience using data analysis tools such as Motec i2, Pi, or Atlas required. Motec i2 is preferred.

• 2+ years of experience using full vehicle simulation tools to characterize vehicle behavior.

• Demonstrated understanding of vehicle dynamics and race related performance engineering principles.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

• Advanced computer skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to assess and react to situations in a fast-paced stressful environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Skills to work independently and in group settings.

• Ability to operate well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

• Ability to identify and propose solutions to complex issues.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to drive execution and results.

• Legally eligible to live and work in the United States.
