Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is seeking an experienced, creative and highly motivated Content Editor responsible for producing unique, engaging, shareable and on-brand written content on HendrickMotorsports.com and across other digital platforms.

The ideal candidate will work proactively and professionally to write and curate engaging content for Hendrick Motorsports’ official website and across other digital platforms. Additional responsibilities will include writing and editing content for myriad forms of internal and external communication, including press/media material and news releases; employee and fan email newsletters; business development presentations; advertising and promotional copy; and business correspondence. Candidates must be detail-oriented with the ability to independently write, self-edit and post clean copy and error-free work.

The role requires expert knowledge of Associated Press style; impeccable newswriting, copywriting, proofreading, editing and creative writing skills; strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) best practices; documented experience working with Google Analytics; experience with content management systems; excellent interpersonal communication skills and a collaborative mindset; experience building and managing content calendars; a strong understanding of the existing and evolving digital media landscape; and an ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines. Experience with social media best practices, corporate brand guidelines and digital marketing trends is preferred. Still photography experience, knowledge of layout/design best practices and familiarity with Photoshop are also preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce best-in-class articles/stories, headlines and other written content for the team’s official website
  • Manage day-to-day editorial calendar, including management of content and tagging content for digital analytics
  • Apply writing/editing skills across various projects/mediums, including website content, internal and external email marketing newsletters, advertising copy, business presentations, news releases and weekly press material
  • Collaborate with creative services team members to develop new and creative content ideas
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices, learnings, trends and innovative ideas for digital content

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree in English, journalism, communications or related field
  • Minimum five years of experience in a professional writing or related position
  • Expert understanding of Associated Press style and editing
  • Professional-level writing, editing and grammar skills
  • Knowledge of writing for SEO and SEO best practices
  • Experience with digital analytics tools, including Google Analytics, and building detailed reports
  • Knowledge of content layout and design fundamentals
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills
  • Experience working in a collaborative and team-based environment; track record of fostering positive relationships among peers, managers and organizational partners
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work a flexible schedule; regular weekend work from home throughout the NASCAR Cup Series season is required with this position
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Still photography skills and knowledge of Photoshop are preferred
  • Experience working in a professional sports environment strongly preferred
