The Opportunity
EVEREC is supporting BMW M Team WRT on the search for an experienced Strategy Engineer to support their IMSA GTP Programme.
This is a high-level motorsport strategy position where you will take ownersh ip of pre-event planning, live race strategy, post-event analysis, tyre and energy modelling, and race-day decision making across a top-level endurance racing programme.
The team are not looking for a junior profile - they need someone who has already been in the room, made calls under pressure, and understands how to operate in a high-performance endurance racing environment.
This role can be based anywhere, as it is fully remote, but will require travel across Europe and the US for race events and programme activity.
The Role
You will act as the lead on strategy-related preparation, planning and live race execution across the IMSA programme.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Event
• Review previous race/event history and performance trends
• Build and refine tyre models
• Analyse BoP and race sensitivity
• Prepare event-specific strategic scenarios and numbers
• Develop optimised tyre and energy strategies
• Review and factor in weather modelling
Event / Lead-Up
• Lead on information gathering ahead of sessions
• Support practice / qualifying plans
• Prepare and contribute to briefings and documentation
Practice / Qualifying
• Conduct tyre analysis and ongoing modelling
• Assess compound usage and strategic impact
• Lead on pre-race briefing preparation
Race
• Define preferred race strategy and contingency options
• Assess risks and opportunities in real time
• Work closely with Race Engineers
• Make quick, informed decisions under pressure during live race conditions
Post-Event
• Complete detailed numerical analysis
• Produce clear reports and presentations
• Feed learning back into future race/event strategy
What They’re Looking For
Essential
• Proven experience as a Strategy Engineer within IMSA, WEC, GT3 or GTE
• Strong endurance racing strategy background across sprint and endurance formats
• Real trackside race-day strategy experience
• Ability to make live calls under pressure
• Strong understanding of tyre strategy, race modelling, fuel/energy windows and race execution
• Stable career history - ideally not someone who has moved teams frequently
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with engineering and performance groups
• Highly organised with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Preferred
• GTP / LMDh experience
• Experience with HH Timing and HH DM
• Familiarity with motorsport data systems such as:
• Pi Toolbox
• Bosch
• Magneti Marelli
• CAN / telemetry / timing systems
• Exposure to AI / data science methodologies within race strategy or analysis
• German language is a bonus, but not essential
Working Setup
