Summary: Assists manufacturing technicians and supervisor with maintaining equipment and work areas. Utilizes fabrication skills to assist with very basic fabrication components. Responsible for learning to set up and maintain various metal cutting equipment such as laser, waterjet, and manual press brake and improving fabrication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Use patterns and templates to trace out shapes and cut out parts and pieces needed.
  • Cut metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind and/or bolt component parts required for welding.
  • Assemble parts and pieces using rivets and various fasteners.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Load and unload parts as needed in laser systems.
  • Clean and assemble components as required.
  • Clean work areas as needed.
  • Perform maintenance on machines as required
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment in all working areas.
  • Set-up high-speed water jet cutter to cut and trim parts and materials according to specifications
  • Complete basic shop related duties as needed when not assigned to a specific test.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
