Hendrick Performance is seeking an experienced Mechanic II. As a Hendrick Performance Mechanic, you will assist in shaping the Hendrick Performance experience. You'll help drive sales through exceptional technical service.

Hendrick Performance – Rare, Classic and High Performance Cars

Summary : Installation or repair of mechanical systems and components of the race car, such as brakes, suspension, driveline, steering, cooling and exhaust system .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assemble, disassemble, install, repair, and/or replace steering and suspension components.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and take samples from components for review and quality control .
  • Install, repair, overhaul, adjust, and disassemble front and rear suspension system .
  • Assemble, install, inspect, and disassemble fuel cells, fuel lines and other related race car plumbing .
  • Dress and install engine as required . Post-race remove , document and disassemble .
  • Install exhaust systems, including headers and tail pipes .
  • Install, repair, and later disassemble cooling ducts, cooling systems, interior wiring, and driver comfort / safety items.
  • U nderstand the engine start up procedure and apply it appropriately .
  • Able to manufacture hydraulic hoses and use the hose crimper.
  • A ssist Shop Mechanic III
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Reliability - Demonstrates being dependable and trustworthy.
  • Repairing - Repairing items using needed tools and equipment .
  • Troubleshooting - Determining the causes of operating errors and deciding the action to take .
  • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety .

Education/Experience:

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule. Ability to travel if needed.
  • Ability to teach others and lead by example.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical components and car systems.
  • Owning and utilizing personal tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of measuring tools and calipers.
  • Ability to follow specific and detailed procedures .
  • Strong ability to problem solve .
  • Basic fabrication skills.
  • Prefer basic machining skills .

Physical Demands:

  • Required to frequently reach outward, reach above shoulder level, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Required to constantly stand, walk , manually manipulate, lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 25 pounds .
  • Required to occasionally sit, and push/pull over 100 pounds.

Environment Demands:

  • Primarily works indoors in the shop environment .
  • May be exposed to fumes and loud noises
