NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (NOAPS) Engineering Manager

Richard Childress Racing is seeking a detail-oriented, data-driven Engineering Manager to support our NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series program. This key technical role is integral to maximizing on-track performance through the application of simulation tools, data analysis, and engineering fundamentals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a team-first attitude, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day activities of O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Performance Engineers supporting RCR Crew Chiefs and Race Engineers needs.
  • Collaborate with other engineering staff to develop test plans and analyze data from testing equipment such as DiL simulators, pulldown, kinematics and compliance, or 7-post rigs.
  • Moderate and contribute to weekly pre-race preparation and post-race analysis meetings.
  • Regular exchange with RCR Cup Series team(s) through Head of Race Engineering & Technical Director to ensure information is properly communicated between series when appropriate.
  • Ensure RCR NOAPS Alliance teams weekly needs are met as they arise, including technical support, sDiL simulator use, and communication of key technical information on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate GM Reporting documents are appropriately understood, processed, and communicated to in house RCR NOAPS and Alliance teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with firm deadlines.
  • Ability to support RCR NOAPS race teams remotely during race events from RCR on-site war room.
  • Travel to support race weekend and at-track test events when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Motorsports Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a professional racing organization, using vehicle dynamics simulation, Driver-in-Loop simulators, and/or other engineering test rigs .
  • NASCAR experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard simulation and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Multi-body Sim Tools, MoTeC, Pi Toolbox).
  • Basic understanding of vehicle dynamics, tire behavior, and aerodynamics in a motorsports context.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience, particularly with racecar components, is a plus.
  • Ability to remain focused and make informed decisions in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for motorsports and a strong understanding of vehicle performance engineering is strongly preferred.
