Position Overview

The Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer is responsible for leveraging advanced analytics, AI models, and machine learning techniques to optimize car performance, race strategy, and team decision-making. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in data science with a passion for motorsports, helping transform live telemetry, simulation outputs, and historical race data into actionable insights that give our team a competitive edge.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, and deploy AI/ML models for predicting race outcomes, pit strategy, and competitor behavior.
  • Analyze streaming telemetry data from car sensors and in-race events to identify real-time performance optimization opportunities.
  • Work with race engineers to integrate ML-driven predictions into simulations for aerodynamics, tire degradation, fuel strategy, and vehicle setup.
  • Build race-specific competitor models, including driver performance trends, pit crew efficiency, and team strategy profiles.
  • Collaborate with simulation engineers to enhance lap time modeling and optimize vehicle setup through machine learning techniques.
  • Ensure ML solutions operate in time-sensitive, low-latency environments suitable for live race deployment, with confidence thresholds and fallback logic
  • Communicate complex data-driven insights in clear, actionable terms to crew chiefs, engineers, and competition leadership
  • Research and prototype new data/ML approaches to expand competitive advantage across simulation, car setup optimization, and race execution.
  • Aid other team members as requested by leadership
