HMS Motorsport and Schroth Racing is a leader in high-performance motorsports safety equipment, specializing in the design, production, and fitting of precision safety harness systems for elite racing teams. We pride ourselves on unparalleled quality, meticulous attention to detail, and world-class customer service in a fast-paced, demanding industry.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, technically proficient, and detail-oriented Seat belt builder and department lead to manage critical aspects of our production, inventory control, and direct driver fitment support. This role is central to ensuring our safety systems meet the highest standards of quality and compliance while maintaining optimized material availability for timely order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Material Management

  • Receive and Log Shipments: Process incoming shipments, accurately recording part numbers, shipment dates, quantities, and other details on Inventory Control Sheets.
  • Storage: Organize and store inventory, separating by belt standards, along with dates to ensure FIFO.
  • Stock Replenishment: Proactively fill bins from bulk stock to ensure continuous availability for builds.
  • Cycle Counting & Reporting: Conduct monthly inventory checklists to establish current stock levels and urgently report material shortages or needs to the Inventory Manager.
  • Digital Record Keeping: Upon stock exhaustion, digitally record data from the physical inventory sheet and file the paper record appropriately.

Race Harness Fitting & Technical Education

  • Driver Fitment Support: Conduct precise safety harness fitments for drivers, ensuring compliance with all critical safety specifications.
  • Customization Consultation: Advise drivers on available customization options to maximize driver comfort, performance, and convenience.
  • Team Education: Train race team members on proper belt fitting, along with adjustment procedures to ensure driver safety on race day and reduce on-site service needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Support potential auditing processes by senior staff to verify correct application and safety compliance post-fitting.

Production & Order Fulfillment

  • Order Building: Accurately assemble specialized builds, following specific build sequences.
  • Documentation: Upon completion, print and email the final invoice, and include the full schematic drawing with physical belt builds for comprehensive team documentation.
  • Emergency Prioritization: Manage and execute emergency ("911") orders with the highest priority, ensuring immediate fulfillment and quick invoice generation, treating them with the same urgency as walk-in requests.
  • Specialized Builds: Execute any requested belt modifications according to the specific request, which includes precise cutting, box-stitching hardware, and final QA check.

Mechanical Maintenance & Technical Drawing

  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform weekly oiling of designated sewing machines following specific lubrication points detailed on maintenance logs.
  • Machine Troubleshooting: Monitor and address immediate issues with the sewing machines, fix if possible or setup.
  • Documentation: Complete the Equipment Maintenance Log weekly for all relevant machinery.
  • Schematic Creation: Utilize Corel Draw to accurately draft custom belt schematics based on fitment data. Ensuring all drawings feature clean edges and accurate specifications.
