Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Chassis Fabrication, new builds and repair of chassis for house teams and alliances.
- Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, and plans to determine welding requirements and best practices.
- Preparing materials which may involve cutting, notching, shaping, grinding, cleaning, and aligning metal parts before welding.
- Ability to set up and operate welding equipment, this includes selecting the appropriate welding process (MIG, TIG, etc.), adjusting machine settings, and ensuring proper operation.
- Perform work with help of various hand, power tools and fabrication equipment.
- Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks on products. After welding, they must inspect the welds for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Ability to perform maintenance and minor repairs of welding equipment and tools.
- Collaborate with team members, engineers, or supervisors to complete projects.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with materials, equipment, or welding processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, kneeling and crouching.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks on a regular basis.
- Required manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
- Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualification Requirements:
- Prior experience as a chassis fabricator preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to measure and interpret dimensions precisely using tape measures and precision measuring equipment e.g. Faro Arm.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and processes (GMAW / GTAW required)
- Experience in using electric or manual tools (saws, squares, snips, etc.)
- Experience reading and interpreting technical documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
