Track Engineer - Nascar Truck Series

Mooresville, NC, USA Full Time
Compensation: $70,000 to $105,000 Annually

Position Overview

This role reports to the Crew Chief of one of FRM’s truck teams and will have direct impact on setup decisions, race strategy, car build processes, report generation, and many more items that effect the race results each weekend.

Job Responsibilities

  • Advise all setup, strategy, and car build decisions for the team and driver
  • Perform simulation work and maintaining accurate data within the team database
  • Analyze tire, suspension, and aerodynamic data to define optimal performance windows
  • Design and execute weekly test plans for Driver-in-Loop (DIL) and physical testing
  • Assist in chassis setup and operating the pull-down rig to collect load and travel data
  • Run simulation to analyze setup choices
  • Coordinate upcoming race car build sheets
  • Review past data and generate reports
  • View and interpret data from the car live on a race weekend
  • Perform analysis on vehicle data and give feedback to team Crew Chief
  • Calculate fuel mileage and other in race strategy numbers
  • Document all pertinent information from a race weekend for future review
  • Operate in a team environment and work well with a mixed group of talents

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in motorsports at any level preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Knowledge of NASCAR rules
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a demanding industry
  • Ability to think and react fast in a stressful environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills
