NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Engineer
Joe Gibbs Racing is seeking a highly motivated and detail-driven Race Engineer to support our O’Reilly Auto Parts Series program. This position plays a key role in optimizing vehicle performance through simulation, data analysis, and trackside engineering support.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Race Engineer, you will contribute to race preparation, simulation, and performance analysis, including:
• Performing simulation work and maintaining accurate data within the team database
• Analyzing tire, suspension, and aerodynamic data to define optimal performance windows
• Designing and executing weekly test plans for Driver-in-Loop (DIL) and physical testing
• Operating the Pull Down Rig to collect load and travel data
• Providing trackside engineering support, including data collection and real-time analysis
• Collaborating with the Crew Chief, Car Chief, and engineering team on race strategy and vehicle setup
• Conducting post-event analysis to identify opportunities for performance improvement
Qualifications:
• Expertise in vehicle dynamics/simulation tools and data interpretation (e.g., MATLAB, MoTeC)
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of professional motorsports experience (race engineering preferred)
• Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics and data interpretation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common engineering analysis tools
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Hands-on race car experience strongly preferred
• Ability to perform under time-critical conditions in a fast-paced environment
