Aero Performance Engineer

This position is responsible for calculating and managing weekly aero configurations and appropriate aero map offsets. Collaborate with the race engineering group to determine optimal body/underwing build and platform for each race. Develop aero tools for use in simulation and trackside. Support driver in the loop simulation, wind tunnel, and track testing.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calculate and manage weekly aero configurations for vehicle simulation
  • Calculate appropriate as built vehicle aero map offsets for each race
  • Collaborate with race engineering group on optimal body, underwing, and platform configurations for each race
  • Validate aero maps and offsets with track data
  • Develop aero tools for use in simulation and trackside
  • Support driver in the loop sessions, wind tunnel testing, and track testing as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of work-related experience with aero performance tool generation and use.
  • Proficiency in coding with tools such as matlab and python
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or similar
  • Strong data analysis and fitting skills
  • Motorsports or automobile experience desired
