Position Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on Engine Builder to join our New Hudson team. In this role, you’ll disassemble, inspect, machine, and assemble internal combustion engines—then validate performance through measurement, testing, and tuning support. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with cutting-edge powertrains and collaborate with engineers and technicians on stock, performance, and custom builds.
Key Responsibilities
• Disassemble and inspect engines, documenting wear and defects.
• Perform or support machining (boring, honing, decking, valve/seat work).
• Measure and blueprint engine components (bore, taper, deck height, clearances).
• Select and install components based on build goals (OEM or performance).
• Assemble short/long blocks with precision and accuracy.
• Set timing, verify oiling, prime systems, and perform pre-start checks.
• Support engine testing and tuning, including break-in and data collection.
• Maintain clean, organized, and calibrated workspaces and tools.
• Follow all shop and safety protocols.
Qualifications
• Proven engine teardown and assembly experience.
• Solid knowledge of internal combustion fundamentals and failure modes.
• Skilled with precision measurement tools (micrometers, bore gauges, torque/angle tools).
• Ability to read specifications, drawings, and service information.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to move vehicles and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Skills
• Performance/racing engine experience (NA, boosted, flex fuels, heavy-duty).
• Cylinder head work, balancing, and ring filing experience.
• Familiarity with dyno operations, data acquisition, and tuning workflows.
• ASE certifications, trade school, or technical training.
• Welding/fabrication or CNC/manual machining knowledge.
