RFK is searching for a Junior Tire Engineer to join the Vehicle Dynamics and Simulation Engineering team. This role supports the development, analysis, and tuning of tire models in support of vehicle simulation. The Junior Tire Engineer will also work closely with the Senior Tire Engineer to analyze tire data, prepare actionable analysis, and contribute to simulation and race team support.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and fit SOVA data to evaluate tire performance.
- Prepare weekly tire performance reports and provide recommendations for race events.
- Develop and tune tire models for use in pre-race simulation environments.
- Provide support during Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) simulator sessions.
- Develop processing scripts for track test data to generate actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with and support the Senior Tire Engineer on tire model development projects.
- Attend track tests (2-4 a year).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and tire modeling.
- Experience with Pacejka “Magic Formula” tire models.
- Proficiency with programming languages for data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Prior motorsports experience is a plus.
