Shock Technician

Concord, NC, USA Full Time
Compensation: $38 to $48 Hourly

The shock technician is responsible for the assembly, maintenance and testing of the shock absorbers and related suspension components relating to performance of a race car while being committed to quality, always paying attention to details, consistently delivering outstanding service, and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building new shock absorbers from complex parts
  • Disassembling of shocks as well as maintaining parts.
  • Re-valving and ensuring all components of the shock system are properly installed and sealed.
  • Operating shock dynamometers to test shocks performance, along with the ability to analysis data and ensure shocks meet specifications
  • Ability to document parts and findings related to shocks.
  • Ability to use specialized tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing shocks and related suspension components.
  • Ensuring all work meets quality standards and specifications, inspecting parts for accuracy and proper function.
  • Maintaining detailed records of assembly, testing, and maintenance procedures, potentially using specific software or databases.
  • Safely operating machinery according to recommended safety specifications, including use of all protective equipment necessary (protective eyewear, gloves, mask, earplugs, etc.) while identifying any safety hazards and reporting all risks immediately to a supervisor.
  • Keeping work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Provide assistance to other team members on other duties as appropriate.
  • Other duties & special projects will be added as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prior work-related experience, preferably in the racing industry experience with the shock and related suspension components
  • High school diploma or equivalent and basic reading and advanced mechanical skills necessary.
  • Must have an understanding and ability to read and do calculations with measurements.
  • Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional processes at one time.
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Manual experience using all equipment necessary to perform job responsibilities: measuring devices, etc.
  • Manual dexterity and good eyesight are required to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to concentrate on detailed work and perform moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Must maintain a high level of quality and ability to conform to the wants/needs of the race team target settings
