Lead Tear Down/Shop Mechanic
Home based team member responsible for tear down and mechanical disassembly of race car after each race event as well as the assembly, preparation and quality production of the equipment by using various mechanical tools supplied as well as mentor to entry level mechanics in this process. Performs different aspects of mechanical work, mechanical maintenance, and adjustments on race cars as well.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Mentors and organizes the tear down process of the entry level tear down mechanics by following instructions/schedule for disassembly of race cars with the different departments to remove, clean, and inspect all parts.
-Document all damaged parts and produce a record for inventory purposes.
-Take photos and maintain a post-race database.
-Record all post-race requested measurements and settings (Brake bias, oil levels, temp strips, etc)
-Maintain a clean and organized work environment while in the tear down process.
-Making the necessary adjustments to the process to meet the set schedule to achieve desired results.
-Remove SMT, IDAS, (Broadcast equipment), and Driver Cooling package post-race for reinstallation in the next race events car.
-Final prep parts carts, Post event, for return to the Assembly Mechanics
-Responsible for organization of inspection and final cleaning of chassis in preparation for the next scheduled event
-Preparing a complete supply of teardown equipment needed for the following weeks events.
-Maintaining accurate records for each events race car
-Openly communicating with supervisors to ensure all cars meet specified deadlines for completion for reimplementation of the car.
Qualifications:
-2-5 yrs experience in the tear down of race cars after each event.
-Working knowledge of mechanical components and structural framework of race cars.
-Demonstrate an understanding of set-up specifications for race cars and identify appropriate safety mechanisms for each component.
-Must be thorough with a strong sense of attention to detail
-Strong problem-solving skills o Proven ability to build internal relationships and interact with all levels of the organization
-Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
-Must be proficient in using precision measuring devices.
