Powder Coating Technician
Hendrick Technical Solutions is currently seeking a Powder Coating Technician to join our team.
Summary: Responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing parts using ceramic and powder coating techniques. Duties include surface preparation, equipment setup and maintenance, coating application, quality control, packaging, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Prepare surfaces to be coated and mask as needed
- Optimally hung parts in preparation for efficient coating operations
- Set up and maintain equipment (spray guns, booth, filters, etc.)
- Operate equipment and machines in accordance with specific operational and safety instructions
- Prepare ceramic coating mixings
- Apply coatings following specifications as per instructions
- Follow quality control and production processing procedures
- Identify quality control issues and recommend solutions to quality challenges
- Remove the product from the racks and disperse to the proper location
- Wrap and package products correctly to be shipped and/or picked up
- Spray powder on to parts using correct techniques to assure even, consistent and optimal coverage
- Examination of finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications and quality control
- Maintain proper housekeeping and keep all equipment and workspaces neat and clean
- Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; 1+ year experience in an industrial painting or coatings environment preferred . Knowledge of electrocoating or similar finishing processes is a plus. Knowledge of wastewater treatment is preferred. Basic understanding of electrical and chemical processes used in e-coating. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Understanding of basic chemistry.

Fork Lift certification
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in programming software and basic Microsoft Office applications
Communication Skills:
Ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively with other departments and organizational team members.
Attendance Expectations:
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. The position is not remote and must work onsite.
Physical Demands:
Requires vision (near, distance, color, peripheral, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses. Constantly manually manipulates, lifts/carries 10 pounds or less, and pushes/pulls 12 pounds or less. Frequently stands, walks, reaches outward, bends, lifts/carries up to 75 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds. Occasionally sits, reaches above shoulder, squats or kneels, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds. Ability to distinguish between color variations to perform titrations.
Environment Demands:
Exposure to heat, noise, chemicals, and moving equipment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Comfortable working with chemicals and in a production environment.
Verbal and Writing Ability:
Must be able to read blue prints and production orders. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees. Ability to read technical documents, safety data sheets (SDS), and operating procedures.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must be able to do basic shop math and measurements using calipers.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations.
