Aerodynamics Engineer
Richard Childress Racing is seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer to be a part of the Aero Development Group. In this role the ideal candidate should have a sound knowledge of vehicle aerodynamics. This position will work between RCR and its OEM partner to facilitate collaboration and lead efforts to optimize aerodynamic performance through simulation, wind tunnel testing, and track data correlation.
The aero engineer will regularly apply their knowledge of the driving aerodynamic mechanisms behind certain test results and offer meaningful recommendations to the group on how to improve vehicle performance.
Key Qualifications
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, wind tunnel testing, CFD tools
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in large groups
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong work ethic and ability to adapt to a demanding schedule
Ability to work in a fast paced/ competitive work environment
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
1+ years of experience with wind tunnel testing using advanced data analysis techniques
1+ years of experience with CFD tools (ex. Star CCM+, Ansys Fluent, OpenFoam)
1+ year of experience with vehicle dynamics simulation tools
1+ year(s) of experience with vehicle instrumentation
